Company Overview
Vinci SA is a French global concessions and construction company and the world's largest operator of airports by passenger traffic, along with being a major player in highways, rail, energy infrastructure, and building construction. Founded in 1899 as Société Générale d'Entreprises by Alexandre Giros and Louis Loucheur, the company reported revenue of €71.6 billion in 2024 and employs 285,000 people across more than 120 countries. Headquartered in Nanterre in the western suburbs of Paris, Vinci has built some of the world's most iconic infrastructure including the Rion-Antirion Bridge in Greece and the Chernobyl containment structure.
Vinci operates through three complementary business divisions with different economic cycles: Vinci Concessions (€11.7 billion revenue, managing 4,400 km of toll roads and 72 airports in 14 countries), Vinci Energies (€27.5 billion revenue, providing energy infrastructure and digital transformation services), and Vinci Construction (€31.8 billion revenue, delivering civil engineering, building, and specialty construction globally). This diversified model provides stability across economic cycles while leveraging synergies in infrastructure development, operation, and maintenance.
Under the leadership of Chairman and CEO Xavier Huillard (2010-2024) and incoming COO Pierre Anjolras, Vinci has pursued aggressive international expansion through strategic acquisitions totaling over 30 companies in recent years. Major deals include ANA Aeroportos de Portugal (€3.08 billion, 2012), Gatwick Airport 50.01% stake (2019), ACS Industrial division (€5.2 billion, 2021), and Edinburgh Airport 50.01% stake (2024). The company's concession model generates stable long-term cash flows from toll roads and airports, funding growth in construction and energy infrastructure. Vinci serves 58% of revenue from international markets and continues expanding in renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, and digital transformation services.
