Company Overview
SolarWinds Corporation is a leading American IT management software company headquartered in Austin, Texas. The company develops software solutions that help businesses manage their networks, systems, and information technology infrastructure. With over 300,000 customers worldwide, SolarWinds has established itself as a major player in the IT operations and observability market.
Founded in 1999, SolarWinds grew to become one of the most widely-used IT management platforms, known for its Network Performance Monitor (NPM) and Orion platform. The company's products span observability, database management, IT service management, and security solutions, serving organizations ranging from small businesses to large enterprises and government agencies.
SolarWinds became internationally known following the December 2020 cyberattack, believed to be orchestrated by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, which compromised the company's Orion software. This supply-chain attack affected numerous organizations including federal agencies and Fortune 500 companies. Under the leadership of CEO Sudhakar Ramakrishna, who joined just days before the breach was disclosed, SolarWinds has implemented comprehensive security improvements and rebuilt customer trust.
In February 2025, SolarWinds entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Turn/River Capital in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $4.4 billion. For fiscal year 2024, the company reported total revenue of $796.9 million with strong subscription growth and maintained profitability with a 48% adjusted EBITDA margin.
