Founded in 1999, SolarWinds grew to become one of the most widely-used IT management platforms, known for its Network Performance Monitor (NPM) and Orion platform. SolarWinds became internationally known following the December 2020 cyberattack, believed to be orchestrated by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, which compromised the company's Orion software. In February 2025, SolarWinds entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Turn/River Capital in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $4.4 billion. For fiscal year 2024, the company reported total revenue of $796.9 million with strong subscription growth and maintained profitability with a 48% adjusted EBITDA margin.
