RSA Archer

RSA Archer is a sophisticated, integrated Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) solution designed to streamline and centralize risk and compliance management across organizations. The platform provides a centralized system to manage risk management processes and ensure regulatory compliance, serving over 1,250 companies worldwide including more than 90 of the Fortune 100.

Archer Technologies was founded in 2000 and headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, with a focus on IT governance, risk, and compliance solutions. The founders aimed to provide organizations with a centralized system to streamline risk management processes and ensure regulatory compliance in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

In 2010, RSA Security (then part of EMC Corporation) acquired Archer Technologies to enhance its portfolio in security and risk management solutions. This acquisition helped Archer reach global status and expand internationally. The platform became known as RSA Archer, combining RSA's security expertise with Archer's GRC capabilities.

The platform has undergone multiple ownership changes over the years. In 2016, RSA became a subsidiary of Dell EMC Infrastructure Solutions Group through Dell Technologies' acquisition of EMC Corporation. In September 2020, Symphony Technology Group (STG) acquired RSA from Dell Technologies for $2.075 billion, and subsequently partnered with Clearlake Capital in 2021 to establish Archer as an independent business. In April 2023, Clearlake and STG sold Archer to Cinven, marking another evolution in the company's ownership.

Today, RSA Archer serves over 1,250 companies globally with 780 customers in the United States alone. Top customer industries include Wealth Management, Insurance, and Cybersecurity. The platform is described as a mature, enterprise-grade solution primarily deployed on-premise or in hosted models, designed for very large organizations with complex GRC requirements.
