Nature Robots

Nature Robots is a German agtech startup that develops fully autonomous farm robots designed to navigate uneven terrain, create detailed 3D maps of plants, and perform agricultural tasks guided by artificial intelligence. The company is a spin-off from the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), bringing cutting-edge AI and robotics technologies directly to farming practice.

Unlike competitors focused on simple single-crop fields, Nature Robots specializes in complex farming systems including regenerative agroforestry and bio-intensive farming. The company positions itself primarily as a software company, with advanced control software and decision-making algorithms that enable robots to operate autonomously, choose tasks, adapt to environments, and work within regenerative agriculture principles.

Nature Robots' technology creates detailed 3D maps of plants over time, enabling precise monitoring of crop health and growth patterns. The robots can perform various farm tasks including weeding, monitoring, and data collection while navigating challenging terrain that would be difficult for traditional agricultural equipment.

In October 2024, Nature Robots received significant funding through the European Innovation Council Accelerator program, comprising 2.5 million euros as a grant and 4 million euros in equity investment. The 6.5 million euro total supports the A-FORWARD project: Autonomous Full Farming for Optimised Regenerative and Wholesome Agriculture with Robotics and Deep-Learning.
