Company Overview

Molson Coors Beverage Company is a Canadian-American multinational drink and brewing company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois and Montreal, Quebec, representing the merger of two storied brewing traditions spanning over two centuries. The company traces its rich heritage to two founding breweries: the Molson Brewery, established in 1786 by John Molson in Montreal, Canada, and the Coors Brewing Company, founded by Adolph Coors in Golden, Colorado in 1873. John Molson started his brewery with his savings on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Montreal, creating one of Canada's oldest and most iconic brewing operations. Molson Canadian, first brewed in 1959, remains today one of Canada's most iconic and best-selling beers. On the American side, Adolph Coors, a penniless brewer's apprentice, stowed away on a ship from Germany in 1868 and made his way west, discovering the perfect water of Clear Creek in Golden, Colorado, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. In 1978, Coors Light was born and is now one of the best-selling beers in the U.S. and enjoyed by beer drinkers in more than 25 countries worldwide. The modern Molson Coors was formed through the merger of Molson of Canada and Coors of the United States, announced on July 22, 2004 and completed February 9, 2005, creating Molson Coors Brewing Company. In a transformative 2016 acquisition, Molson Coors acquired Miller Brewing Company for approximately $12 billion, making the company the world's third largest brewer by volume. On October 30, 2019, the company announced it would change its name to Molson Coors Beverage Company as part of a major 2020 restructuring, reflecting the company's growing strategic focus on beverages outside of traditional beer and brewing offerings. This name change signaled a deliberate pivot toward diversification and innovation in the broader beverage alcohol and non-alcoholic categories. The company's core power brands include Coors Light, Miller Lite, Coors Banquet, Molson Canadian, Carling and Ožujsko, which form the foundation of its market position. Through strategic acquisitions, Molson Coors owns notable beverage brands including Blue Moon, Carling, Coors Banquet, Coors Light, George Killian's Irish Red, Granville Island Brewing, Hamm's, Hop Valley, Leinenkugel's, Miller High Life, Miller Lite, Milwaukee's Best, Molson Export, Steel Reserve, and Terrapin. The company also retains rights to all brands in the former MillerCoors portfolio for the U.S. and Puerto Rico, including Redd's and import brands such as Peroni, Grolsch and Pilsner Urquell. For the fiscal year 2024, Molson Coors reported net sales revenue of $11.07 billion, reflecting a 3.7% increase on a reported basis. The company operates across multiple segments including Americas and EMEA & APAC regions, serving consumers worldwide with a diverse portfolio spanning economy brands, core power brands, and above premium offerings.
