Lennox International Inc. is a leading American provider of climate control products for the heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration markets. Founded in 1895 in Marshalltown, Iowa, by Dave Lennox, who owned a machine repair business for railroads, the company began when inventors Ezra William Smith and Ernest Bryant brought their idea for a riveted steel coal-fired furnace to his machine shop. In lieu of payment, Lennox accepted their patent, launching what would become a global HVAC powerhouse.

Headquartered in Richardson, Texas, Lennox International has grown into a $5.3 billion revenue company (2024) with approximately 14,200 employees. The company designs, manufactures, and markets a comprehensive range of products for the HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration) markets. In fiscal 2024, residential HVAC accounted for 67% of sales, while commercial HVAC and Heatcraft refrigeration comprised 33% of sales. After the strategic sale of its European HVAC and refrigeration businesses in late 2023, Lennox is now focused exclusively on North America.

Lennox markets products under multiple well-established brand names including Lennox, Armstrong Air, Bohn, Larkin, Allied, ADP, MagicPak, iComfort, ComfortSense, Raider, Ducane, Concord, IntelliGen, Hyfra, and AirEase. The company operates through three main subsidiaries: Lennox Industries (residential HVAC), Armstrong Air Conditioning (residential systems), and Heatcraft (commercial refrigeration). With a strong 2024 performance achieving 16.47% sales growth and recently joining the S&P 500 in December 2024, Lennox has solidified its position as a market leader in climate control solutions. The company is 9.8% owned by John W. Norris III, a descendant of D.W. Norris, who acquired the company in 1904.
