Company Overview
Cato Networks stands at the forefront of network security innovation as the pioneer of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technology. Founded in 2015 in Tel Aviv, Israel, by industry luminaries Shlomo Kramer and Gur Shatz, the company emerged with a revolutionary vision: to converge networking and security into a single, cloud-native platform. This vision materialized years before Gartner formally defined the SASE category in 2019, cementing Cato's position as a true industry innovator.
The company's founding team brought unparalleled expertise to the challenge. Shlomo Kramer co-founded Check Point Software Technologies in 1993, pioneering the first commercial firewall, and later founded Imperva in 2002, which innovated the web application firewall. Gur Shatz served as co-founder and CEO of Incapsula, a cloud-based web application security company. Together, they created Cato Networks to address the growing complexity of enterprise networking and security in the cloud era.
Cato's growth trajectory has been exceptional. The company surpassed $250 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in 2024, representing 46% year-over-year growth, and reached over $300 million ARR by September 2025. More than 3,500 enterprises across 190 countries now rely on Cato's single-vendor SASE platform, with 50,000 connected sites and 1.5 million remote users secured by zero trust network access (ZTNA). The company has raised over $1 billion in funding, achieving a valuation of $4.8 billion following its Series G round in June 2025.
The Cato SASE Cloud Platform represents a fundamental rethinking of enterprise networking and security. It converges SD-WAN, a global private backbone, a comprehensive network security stack, and seamless support for cloud resources and mobile devices into a unified service. The platform runs on a dense footprint of Points of Presence (PoPs) hosted in regional top-tier datacenters, interconnected with multiple global and regional carriers. In 2024-2025, Cato significantly expanded its platform with new capabilities including XDR, EPP, MSASE, DEM, and IoT/OT Security, while making its first acquisition of Aim Security in September 2025 to enhance AI security capabilities.
